Media Literacy Programme

Cultural transformations affect young children, individuals as well as families in unprecedented ways. Globalisation, market culture, and proliferation of media are influencing our life and perspectives. This special situation forces us to rethink the content, format and the style of our education system.

Media is increasingly becoming part and parcel of our life. Everyday new technologies and gadgets come to the market as well as to our lives. This has changed our life significantly though we are not aware about it. One has to be a media literate to be successful and safe in the media saturated world.

Connect offers various modules of Media Literacy Programmes for schools.

What Is Media Literacy?

Media influences our life immensely and our culture is undergoing transformations. Media should be evaluated critically and fairly before they are consumed. Let us not be ruled by the media.

Our children are uncritically exposed to media messages as they spent thousands of hours in front of screens watching movies and TV shows, surfing the Internet, playing video games, texting and chatting. How do these visuals and interactive messages affect young people’s cognitive faculties, perspectives and behaviour?

Why Media Literacy?

Media literacy is a skill you learn through practice. It is about accessing, analysing, critically evaluating and creatively responding to media content.

Our media literacy programme uses the strategy of discussion and talking with our young adults about what they watch, hear, and read. We provide them with techniques for reading between the lines so that they can understand exactly what videos, movies, games and new media messages are conveying to them.
